Below you will find useful information about the color we love so much. The color silver has gone through a series of name changes and some years was not even produced. Below you will find the years broken out, the name of silver or close to the color silver for that year, and silver production numbers if information was made available.
2005

Our Color Name of the Year: Satin Silver

The standard engine is a 60-degree 4.0-liter SOHC V-6. It replaces the 3.8-liter 90-degree pushrod engine in the 2004 model. The 210-horsepower, 240 pound-feet engine – gains of 23 horsepower and 15 pound-feet over 2004 – is inherently smoother and more compact, providing more power and torque. They come with standard 16" wheels. An Exterior Sport Appearance Package is an option, and includes a rear spoiler and sport tape stripe on the lower rocker.

Muscular new engines infuse Mustang GT with tire-smoking performance. The 4.6-liter all-aluminum V-8 has three-valve heads and cranks out 300 horsepower. Because it has an aluminum block, it weighs 75 pounds less than a comparable cast-iron design while delivering 40 more horsepower than the 2004 engine. That’s more than 50 percent more power than the small-block 289-cubic-inch V-8 found in the classic 1964 model. Motor Trend ran a 2005 Mustang GT 5-speed from 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds and ran the quarter mile in 13.5 seconds at 103 mph in the January 2005 issue. The Mustang GT comes standard with a rear spoiler, but a spoiler delete option is available. 17" wheels are standard.

The 2005 Mustang GT was selected to pace the NASCAR Nextel Cup Banquet 400 and Ford 400 in the 2004 season.

A T-5 five-speed manual transmission is standard, but for the first time, a five-speed automatic transmission is available.

2006

Our Color Name of the Year: Satin Silver

The major addition for 2006 is the V6 Pony Package. With an MSRP of $1,195, the Pony Package, which is available on V6 coupe and convertible, comes standard with a new 1965 Mustang GT-inspired grille which features a traditional corral surrounding the pony and horizontal bars which lead to small chrome-trimmed grille-mounted foglamps. The Pony is the first six-cylinder Mustang in the 40+ year history of the car to come standard with 17" wheels--the same "Bullitt" wheels that were standard on the 2005 Mustang GT. The wheels, outfitted with a unique tri-bar Pony center cap, will be wrapped in P235/55ZR 17-inch tires. The Pony has a new thin-thick-thin rocker panel tape stripe with "MUSTANG" lettering on the door and comes standard with a rear spoiler and GT-inspired suspension modifications featuring a larger front stabilizer bar, the addition of a rear stabilizer bar, 4-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS) and traction control.

The GT will have several options for 18" wheels including the "fanblades" from the 2004 showcars, 18" Bullitt, and 18" Marauder wheels.

Sonic Blue will be replaced with Vista Blue, and Mineral Grey will be replaced with Tungsten Grey.

A special run of 500 performance-modified Ford Mustang GTs -- designated GT-H for "Hertz" -- will be produced by Shelby Automobiles and available at select Hertz locations to mark the 40th anniversary of the legendary program that offered car enthusiasts the unique opportunity to rent and drive a high-performance sports car.

The GT-H will possess some impressive performance credentials. Among other things, Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP) is supplying its FRPP Power Pack to add a 25-horsepower kick to the 300-horse Mustang GT 4.6L V-8, bringing the total up to 325.
