The Silver Mustang Registry (SMR) opened its doors in early 2006 with the sole intention of bringing silver  and grey Mustangs from all around the world to one place where everyone shared two common interests. The first of course would be the love of the Ford Mustang, and the second would be the common color of silver and grey. Never did we imagine this small idea would rapidly grow into a place that so many call home and a place that so many of us visit each day to interact with our friends and family.

The site is owned, designed and maintained by Donnie Salter and is based out of Pace, Florida which is a small town in northwest Florida near Pensacola. Before there was SMR, there was just simply "Silver Mustangs". The site was basic and the forum was simple and lacked the traffic we see today. The Registry addition didn't come along until 2007 which then created SMR (Silver Mustang Registry) and a surge of growth flooded the site. SMR is open to all shades of silver and grey Mustangs but SGMR just didn't have as an appealing sound so in 2009, we added "Grey" to the tagline "Home to Silver & Grey Ford Mustang Owners" in hopes that enthusiasts with mineral grey, tungsten grey, etc. would know there were welcome to join and become part of the SMR family. The addition worked and we now have equal amounts of grey owners as we do silver.

As the site continued to grow, many members expressed interest in a yearly event allowing us to meet at a designated location for a whole weekend. The original location was Stone Mountain Park, Georgia in 2007 which dubbed the name Silver in the Hills. Silver in the Hills has gone on to being known simply as S.I.T.H now brining along with it some interesting themes. SITH was a great success and brought members in from as far away as Texas and New York and even a yearly fly in from a Netherlands member. The event took place at Stone Mountain Park from 2007-2011 during the month of May. In 2012 the event was moved from Georgia to Maggie Valley, North Carolina during September. This was done to change things up and generate new attendees from different areas but still keeping a lot of our core attendees from Georgia.

SMR wants to thank everyone that has made the site into what it is today. We have an amazing member base with some fantastic sponsors.
